How to reduce the wear of ball mill steel balls?

10 Mar,2022 UTC+8 Views:

As the grinding medium in the ball mill, the steel balls of the ball mill will continuously collide and rub against the material and the barrel of the ball mill during the grinding process. Therefore, the consumption of steel balls in the ball mill is an inevitable phenomenon in the grinding operation. The consumption of steel balls should be properly controlled to reduce costs. So how to reduce the wear of steel balls?

1. Regularly clean up unqualified steel balls
Too many unqualified steel balls will increase the bearing capacity of the ball mill and increase the power consumption. Therefore, it is very important to regularly clean out the unqualified steel balls and add new steel balls according to the gradation.
2. Ensure a reasonable filling rate of steel balls
The steel balls added to the barrel of the ball mill should account for 30-40% of the volume of the barrel. When the speed of the ball mill reaches a certain level, the higher the filling rate, the more times the steel ball hits the material, the larger the grinding area, and the faster the wear. However, if the filling rate is too high, it will also change the motion state of the ball mill and reduce the impact. On the contrary, if the filling rate is too small, the grinding effect is weak.
3. Reasonable steel ball grading
The sizes and proportions of steel balls in mills vary. Large balls account for 30-40%, medium balls account for 40%-30%, and small balls account for 30%. If the proportion of larger balls in the mill exceeds 70%, the area of the grinding balls will be reduced, which will not only increase the consumption of balls, but also affect the grinding efficiency.
4. Grinding aids can be added
The grindability of the material is also an important factor affecting the consumption of steel balls in the ball mill. In actual production, if you encounter hard-to-grind materials, you can add some grinding aids appropriately to reduce the hardness of the materials, which is also an effective way to reduce ball consumption.
5. Reduce the feed size
The larger the particle size of the material, the greater the work done by the ball mill on the material, and the energy consumption of the steel ball also increases. In order to reduce the power consumption of the ball mill, the feeding particle size of the material can be reduced.
6. Control the speed of the ball mill
Under the premise that the ratio of steel balls in the ball mill is reasonable, the speed of the ball mill is increased, the steel balls in the cylinder will appear in a falling state, and the grinding effect will be improved. Due to factors such as material properties, the speed of the ball mill needs to be determined according to the actual situation.
Doing a good job in the above aspects can reasonably and effectively reduce the loss of steel balls and reduce costs for enterprises. CHAENG specializes in the manufacture of various large-scale cement machinery equipment and its spare parts. Welcome to inquire online or leave a message.
